What This week shows you
A short list of stories in your subjects from the last 7 days, each with the outlets reporting it, ranked by how many different outlets cover it.
Stories are ranked by breadth of coverage, not by views. “Covered by 6 outlets” means six different publishers reported the same event, so a launch that every trade site picked up ranks above a single blog post. A press release carried by many wire sites counts once. This week looks at news, launches, posts and threads on the web, never at YouTube, and never at other creators’ videos.

How a check works
Turn on the web check
In Channel → Goals, switch on Check the web for what’s taking off in my subjects. It is off by default. Then add an Exa API key under Settings → API keys.
Name your subjects
This week uses the subjects in your Goals and any you add, up to 6. With AI analysis of your channel switched on, the subject labels CoProd drew from your video titles can be included too.
Check this week
Open Channel → This week and choose Check this week. CoProd runs one news search per subject over the last 7 days, groups the results into stories, then searches once more per story to find other outlets reporting the same event.
Pick a story and start the video
Read what happened, the working title and the angle, and open the sources. Save as idea keeps a story with your other ideas, Not this hides it, and Start production opens a new production that carries the story’s sources into Research.
Behind the button, each subject gets one news search worded as news about that subject for a channel about your other subjects. A bare subject name brings back explainers and glossaries, and the other subjects tell the search which sense of a word like “reliability” your channel means. Your writing provider groups the results into up to 8 stories and cites them only by result, so every link you see is a real search result. Each story then gets its own coverage search, and your writing provider confirms which of those pages report the same event before they join the story, up to 20 sources.
From a story to a sourced video
A trend is only useful if it becomes a video before the week is over.
- Save as idea keeps the story, its pitch and its sources with your other video ideas, marked “This week”.
- Not this hides a story. A later check remembers what you saved and hid, matching stories by their shared sources.
- Start production opens a new production with the story’s sources. Research uses those excerpts for recent claims, so the script is built on this week’s reporting rather than on what an AI model knew before it.
From there it is an ordinary CoProd production. You approve the script and record, the Director and Producer make the cut, and every upload waits for your approval.
What leaves your Mac, and what it costs
Exa receives your subject names and, for coverage searches, the title of a page Exa itself returned. It never receives your Goals or your channel data. Your writing provider receives the search results and your subjects. Recent idea titles are added, to avoid repeats, only while AI analysis of your channel is switched on. CoProd stores each source’s link, title, publisher, date and one short excerpt, never the full article, and deletes the report after seven days. The app privacy policy lists every item.
A check makes at most 14 searches. A full check with six subjects and eight stories cost about US$0.13 at Exa on 28 October 2026, plus your writing provider’s usage. Both are billed to your own keys and shown separately in the tab’s footer and in Costs.
What This week doesn’t do
- It doesn’t count views, predict performance or call anything viral.
- It doesn’t search YouTube or track other channels. Your own breakouts are in the outlier view.
- It isn’t live. A report covers the seven days before the check.
- It doesn’t fact-check for you. Read the sources before you script.

Questions about finding trending video ideas
How do I find trending topics in my YouTube niche?
Look outward at what is being reported in your subjects this week, not only at what already has views on YouTube. CoProd Premium’s This week tab searches the last seven days of news, launches and posts in up to six of your channel’s subjects, groups the results into stories with their sources, and ranks each story by how many different outlets cover it. Each story suggests a working video title and an angle for your audience.
Does “Covered by 6 outlets” mean the story is going viral?
No. It means six different publishers reported the same event in the last seven days, counted from the search results. It is a measure of how widely a story is covered, never of views, and CoProd makes no prediction about how a video on it will perform. A press release carried by many wire sites counts once.
Does This week look at other YouTubers’ videos?
No. YouTube is excluded from every search, and any YouTube result that still arrives is dropped. This week finds what is happening in your subjects on the wider web. To see which of your own uploads broke out, use the outlier view in Channel. How CoProd finds your outlier videos.
What does a check cost?
A check makes at most 14 Exa searches, one per subject and one per story, billed to your own Exa key. On 28 October 2026 a full check with six subjects and eight stories cost about US$0.13 at Exa. Grouping the results and confirming coverage use your configured writing provider, billed separately. The Costs view and the footer of the tab show Exa’s part and the writing provider’s part separately. Exa’s free monthly credit covers weekly checks.
What information leaves my Mac?
Exa receives your subject names and, for coverage searches, the title of a page Exa itself returned. It never receives your Goals or your channel data. Your writing provider receives the search results and your subjects so it can group them into stories. Recent idea titles are included to avoid repeats only while AI analysis of your channel is switched on. Reports stay on your Mac and are deleted after seven days. Read the app privacy policy.
How does a story become a video?
Start production saves the story as an idea and opens the usual production sheet. The production keeps the story’s sources, and the research step uses those excerpts for recent claims instead of relying on what an AI model knew before this week. From there it is an ordinary CoProd production: approve the script, record, and the Director and Producer take it to your upload approval.
How often does This week update?
Whenever you choose Check this week or Check again. CoProd also runs a check after a channel refresh once the last report is a week old, and waits a day before trying again after a failed automatic check. A report stays for seven days; stories you saved or dismissed are recognized in later checks by their shared sources.
Should I trust every claim in a story?
Check the sources before you script. Every link shown is a real search result, and the story text is written by your AI provider from those results, so it can still misread or overstate them. The sources are listed with each story for that reason.
Is This week in the free edition?
No. This week is part of CoProd Premium’s channel tools, from version 2026.61.0. Premium is a one-time purchase (US$50 for the first 50 buyers, then US$149 for one Mac, US$199 for 3 Macs and US$249 for 5) with two years of updates for one creator on an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later.
